Waihi East is a decile 3 co-ed contributing school catering for children in the 5 to 11 year age range (Yr 1 - Yr 6) and at the end of Year 6 pupils transfer to Waihi College (Yr 7 – Yr 13).
The majority of New Entrant children who enroll have had early childhood learning experience and the close proximity of the Waihi Kindergarten is used to the advantage of both institutions. The school roll is currently 180 pupils, our Principal is Zac Taylor, we have 9 classroom teachers with 2 release teachers working part time, 4 classroom based teacher aides, 1 office administrator (full time), a caretaker, a cleaner and dental therapists who work in the school. Waihi East Primary School has an enrolment scheme in place, use this student enrolment form to apply for a spot at our school, we welcome out of zone applications. Applications for out of zone whanau are due by the following close down dates (see a the full close down dates schedule here), a limited number of enrolment places are available for term four 2016.
Effective Teaching - 'What's happening in my child's classroom?' is the latest word from the Education Review Office, it gives parents an insight into teaching practice and includes questions parents can use when discussing their child's progress with the school.

Kia ora koutou, this week we have had a very positive meeting with the council and the police. The meeting was to discuss concerns and possible solutions for keeping students safe when travelling to and from school.
