We would like our Learning community to be more reflective of our students. Approximately 30% of our school identify with an iwi/hapu. Our team would like our programmes to reflect this and The Treaty of Waitangi. This week we are seeking assistance in our classrooms. Later in the term we will hold a whanau meeting and where we can plan our new pathways together reflecting Ana Mata-Our Way Forward.
There are so many people to thank and recognize this week. My golly we are a great learning community. Thank you for an awesome family/whanau picnic at Anzac Bay last week. What a way to spend the day!! My thanks to Sharon for her idea to run a duathlon and her organization leading up to the event (now named Dash and Splash!!) and Dan for co-ordinating this activity. In particular thanks to Trevor and Andrea for giving our community a fabulous boating experience. Many of us have never had such an opportunity before. Thank you for a great adventure.
Thank you to Tracey Lemon who has worked in Room 7 as a teacher aide. Tracey is undertaking her second year of teacher training. She is an asset for any school, hopefully ours in 2013 if our roll continues to grow. Peter Tai will take over from Tracey and support Lynette in Room 7 for an hour and a half per day. Our wonderful part time teacher Gaylene King has brought the Waka initiative to our school. Gaylene is a strong supporter of whanau initiatives. Thank you for this new idea, and again to Dan for organizing this (before his new appointment).
Thank you to the fabulous parents who have supported our school camps this year. What a TEAM. The learning outcomes for students and personal growth have been awesome.Lastly thank you to the staff of Waihi East School. Education is moving at a very fast pace and flexibility is required. Thank you for your enthusiasm, respect and drive to be the best professionals for our learning community.
Our love and thoughts go to those in Christchurch. Lovely Monika from Room 6 independently brought tinned goods to school to send to those in need. What a STAR pupil. Thank you for supporting our mufti. Money not goods is being requested. Time to hug loved ones and show how much we care.
