Awesome Term of Learning

Posted on 06/10/2011 by Emily

Kia ora, thank you for an awesome term of learning. This week the Achievement Team (whom the Ministry of Education call the Change Team) looked at how we are going. There have been some exciting improvements. This data will help us plan teaching and learning programmes for next term and organize our teacher aides to support those who require additional assistance.

To support road safety at school, we request that parents do not park in the bus bay or on the grass verge outside the school entrance.

Our new edible gardens look very exciting. These gardens have been funded using a Lion Foundation. Michelle has worked very hard to bring us to this point. A feijoa hedge has been planted beside the new garden and plans are underway to plant passion fruit, other edible fruits and a herb garden outside the staff room. Each week Michelle will view our school gardens and reward one classroom for their efforts. We would love parent help developing these gardens, come along and share your knowledge.

The Newmont Proposal and the impact on the Waihi East School community is being discussed by the Board of Trustees. If you have ideas/information you would like to share, Paul Morgan is the Board liaison person. He will feed back to the Board the general feel of what you would like. Please contact Paul on his home phone number 863 8937.Our next Board meeting is on Tuesday the 25th of October at 7pm. This is an open meeting which you are welcome to attend.

Our sun smart policy kicks in next term. This involves all children wearing school hats. Please find these over the holidays. We have hats for sale at the office $8 each. No caps thank you.

Enjoy our October holidays. Thank you for your amazing support. Go the All Blacks.
