Kia ora, today I must acknowledge two businesses who came to the aide of our athletics day this week-Wightman Contractors and Edwards Transport. At our staff meeting on Monday it was noted that our children were not excelling at long jump as we did not have a long jump pit, just mats. Within half an hour Robbie had touched base with both businesses who generously supplied a digger and sand to implement this new pit within 15 hours. Robbie you ROCK!! At our athletics day we noted an increase in achievement at the long jump, and a skill level that was superior to training days. So thank you Wightman Contractors and Edwards Transport. Your sense of community and willingness to support our school is appreciated. Athletics Day was outstanding. Phil Gurnick organized an excellent event for our children to ‘Rise Above and Shine'. Thank you to our wonderful parents for running events, helping with supervision and encouraging pupils. We were a great team. Check out the slideshow below featuring East School's Athletics Day.
Next week staff will work with Margaret Morrison from The Ministry of Education (student achieve-ment focus). Our aim is to look at our latest achievement data, set clear goals for our students in 2012 and modify our programmes to meet student needs. We know this support and guidance will have significant impact on learning. Lastly thank you to our Garage Sale Team and local Play Centre for our awesome Garage Sale. We raised $350 towards this years Duffy Books. It was a social morning and lots of fun. Thank you for supporting this event. Ka kite ano Emily
