Easts Exciting Initiatives

Kia ora, check out our school!! Not only do we have our new edible gardens being constructed this week BUT Susie Couch is organizing our school recycling. Our new initiatives include:

• Bright new recycling bins for plastic, paper and waste.
• The re-establishment of our worm farm (worms arrive Monday).
• Purchase of a new exciting compost bin.
• All classes planning their edible garden. With weekly competition for best garden.
• New feijoa hedge to be planted behind the administration block.
• New miniature fruit trees to be planted outside of staffroom.

This week we attach a copy of the response to your questions from Newmont. Please let us know if you would like further information. The Ministry of Education in Hamilton are aware of Newmont’s proposal and are answering our questions as they come to hand.

The Ministry of Education is staffing Waihi East School with six teachers in 2012. A legal requirement is to advertise the sixth teaching position (senior school), however we expect current  staff to apply. This term we loved having a seventh teacher. As a staff we are coming up with cunning plans to have a seventh teacher next year. Please let us know your ideas.
