Hauora-Our Health

Posted on 27/10/2011 by Emily

Kia ora, welcome back to school, the final term of 2011. The focus of our learning programmes is hauora-our health. Keep an eye out for Harold the Giraffe and Rachel visiting in November and school/cluster athletics. Our new edible gardens have been carefully planted and maintained by students, see photos from Room 2 and 3's planting days below. Come and check out the variety of plants in place. Michelle and Peter Tai are continuing with the edible theme. A new herb and fruit garden is well under way outside the staff room. This exciting area is fully funded by the Lion Foundation grant Michelle was able to secure for our school.

Yesterday Brent Willoughby, Ross Cooper, Sabrina Chapman and Charlie Spicer were our special guests talking to Year 6 students about Waihi College Life. Students appreciated hearing from Sabrina and Charlie, two excellent role models. Year six students will visit the College later in the term.

Local builders are currently putting in tenders for the Ministry of Education (property division) for the junior deck area. This project will be undertaken during the summer holidays. Please check out our concept plan on our web site – we are going to look mighty fine!

See you tomorrow for our Friday assembly at 1.40pm followed by athletics. A great way to end the week.
