Kia ora, welcome back to term 2, the term that we celebrate Matariki-the Maori New Year. Activities planned so far are: Star Lab, Production, Kahurangi Dance Theatre at school, a hikoi to the pump house, visiting our local marae, kite making and a hangi on the last day of term. To keep up to date with our activities please view our school calendar on the school website (www.waihieast.school.nz). Please note this is the new website, the old website will be deleted very soon.
Do you want Richie McCaw to visit our school? I do!! Communities are fundraising for the Westpac Chopper Appeal. The school that raises the most money will have Richie visit. Our fundraising idea is to sell iced helicopter biscuits. Room 2 and 3 will swing into gear to make these next week. Biscuits will be sold on the 20th at school and in town for $2.00 each. Waihi East School was one of 5 schools selected in the Waikato to have a special visitor attend school to reinforce the importance of the Chopper Appeal. Mr. Ian Jones, ex All Black and a member of the Westpac Helicopter team will be at school on Tuesday May 10th for a special assembly at 12.15pm. Come along to hear a few rugby stories and some of the jobs the helicopter has attended.
Thursday assembly is now up and running. Please note the date of your children’s assembly. We appreciate your attendance at assembly.
