Six primary schools from the Waihi/Waihi Beach District took part in the annual Waihi District Primary Schools’ Cross Country event on Wednesday 8th June at Morgan Park in Waihi. Competitors from year one to six raced in their gender and year group categories. The races were held from midday onward with intermittent showers and a soggy running track. Cool running conditions prevailed but the runners were buoyed by the enthusiastic support of families, fellow students and teachers and gave their all in their events. The courses ranged in distance from 400 metres for year one and two students up to 2.2 kilometres in the year six category.
